Brenda Buford Memorial Scholarship


The Brenda Buford Memorial Scholarship was created to assist exceptional students with their continuing education. Each year, GP Federal Credit Union offers two $1,000 (non-renewing) scholarships and two $500 (non-renewing) scholarships to students affiliated with our credit union who have demonstrated exceptional academic ability, imagination, determination, and ambition.

The requirements to apply for the scholarship are as follows:

  • Applicant must be a graduating high school senior accepted to a college, university, or technical school, or a college student enrolled in the next Fall semester of a college, university, or technical school.

  • Applicant must be either a primary member, or immediate family of a member, of GP Federal Credit Union, with an account in good standing.

  • Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

  • To be considered for this scholarship, the applicant must submit

    a.     a complete application,

    b.     an official copy of your most recent high school or college transcript,

    c.     a copy of your acceptance letter to the college, university, or technical school you will attend (high school seniors only), or proof of enrollment in the next Fall semester of a college, university, or technical school.

    d.     an essay of at least 500 words on the topic provided.

Completed application packets must be received by the close of business on April 12, 2024. Any application packets received after this date cannot be considered. Scholarship awards will be announced on or before April 26, 2024.
