Hacked Wendy's Include Several In Our Area
It was recently announced that Wendy's restaurants were the victim of hacking via malware which infected its POS systems (cash registers and card machines), resulting in customers' credit and debit card information being stolen. Among the 1.025 Wendy's restaurants affected, 56 were in Georgia and Alabama, with several in our area. The complete list can be found HERE.
The breach occurred between October 31, 2015 and February 14, 2016. If you used your cards at a Wendy's restaurant, even if it does not appear on the list, please monitor your accounts carefully, and frequently for any suspicious activity, and report it to the credit union immediately. As always, our fraud department will also be looking at those cards that may have been affected, and will take proactive steps when necessary (we will notify you if a new card must be issued).
Full information regarding the breach can be found at at Wendy's website or by calling 866-799-0485. Wendy's is offering one year of complimentary fraud consultation and identity restoration services to all affected customers.
