Unforeseen circumstances or miscalculating your account balance can cause you to overdraw your account, but don't worry, we've got you covered. Courtesy Pay is our standard overdraft service. It keeps you from facing additional charges from the merchant, not to mention the embarrassment of a declined transaction.
Who Is Eligible
Courtesy Pay is an automatic benefit for any member with a share draft (checking) account, with some exclusions (see below). Members may opt-out of Courtesy Pay at any time.
What We Will Pay
Courtesy Pay is only available on share draft (checking) accounts, and will cover checks, ACH items, and bill pay transactions. Debit card transactions are NOT included in Courtesy Pay; therefore, debit card transactions will be declined if your account has an insufficient balance.
How Much We Will Pay
We will pay share draft and ACH items on your behalf, up to $250 (including applicable NSF fees). The credit union, at our discretion, may overdraw your account by more than $250 if a deposit is pending on the same account.
Courtesy Pay will NOT pay if you have a past due loan, have opted-out of the service, or you have caused the credit union or another financial institution a loss in the past (such as a charged-off loan or share account).
Courtesy Pay is secondary to Overdraft Protection, if elected, and will only pay after your overdraft privileges have been exhausted.
Regular NSF (non-sufficient funds) fees are included in the $250 Courtesy Pay limit, and will continue to be assessed for each item presented, regardless of whether we choose to pay the item or not.
The credit union reserves the right to NOT overdraw a member's account if we believe the member is causing excessive risk to the credit union, or the overdraft may not be easily recovered from the member.
